Suzy and David’s Tree Tops Park maternity session is a summer stunner. We met at the park on a hot and humid morning to love on their baby bump. We were surrounded by South Florida’s incredible landscapes and interesting foliage. With twisting trees, rope-like Banyan trees, and ferns, this location was not only incredible but a place they will visit with their little one.

Congratulations Suzette and David!
If you’ve never been to Tree Tops Park in Davie, Florida — add it to your list immediately. Tucked just west of Fort Lauderdale, this park is a hidden gem that feels completely removed from the buzz of South Florida. The moment you step onto the trail, the canopy closes in around you and the whole world gets quieter. That’s exactly the kind of setting I look for when I’m shooting on film.
The light filters through the trees in the most painterly way — especially in the early morning when the humidity softens everything into a warm, golden haze. For a maternity session, that kind of light is everything. It wraps around a baby bump and makes the whole scene feel like something out of a dream.
There’s something about film photography that suits this location perfectly. The organic textures — the twisted Banyan roots, the rope-like vines, the carpet of ferns — all read so beautifully on Kodak Portra 400. Digital can sometimes flatten a scene like this. Film leans into it.
For Suzy and David’s Tree Tops Park maternity session, we spent the morning wandering the trails, pausing wherever the light was doing something interesting. That’s one of my favorite things about maternity sessions — there’s no rushing. You move slowly, you notice things, and the images end up feeling like exactly what they are: a quiet, intentional morning celebrating a life about to begin.
One of the questions I get most from expecting mothers in South Florida is where to shoot. The beach is gorgeous, but it’s also incredibly common. If you’re looking for something that feels a little more lush, a little more unexpected — Tree Tops Park delivers in a way few locations around Broward County can.
Other South Florida locations I love for maternity sessions include the Morikami Museum gardens in Delray Beach, the Kampong in Coconut Grove, and Greynolds Park in North Miami. But Tree Tops holds a special place for me. There’s a stillness there that’s hard to find this close to the city.
If you’re expecting and dreaming about film maternity photos in South Florida, I’d love to talk. There’s a short window to document this season — and it goes faster than you think.
