This Georgetown engagement session with Sarah and Andrew is one of my favorites from a warm DC summer evening — roses, golden light, and their adorable pup, Ravioli, stealing every single frame. We explored the gardens and waterfront of Georgetown, one of my absolute favorite DC neighborhoods to shoot in, and it felt like the city was putting on a show just for them. Their Hay Adams wedding later that August was already on my radar, and after this evening, I could not wait.

Georgetown: One of DC’s Best Engagement Session Locations

Georgetown is endlessly photogenic, and moreover it offers so much variety in a small area. The rose gardens are lush and romantic in the summer — soft, full blooms that pair beautifully with film. Additionally, the cobblestone streets and brick rowhouses give you that timeless, editorial feel that’s hard to replicate anywhere else in the city. Then, just a short walk away, the waterfront opens everything up with open sky and gorgeous reflections on the Potomac. For couples who want a mix of intimate and expansive, Georgetown delivers every time.

Shooting Engagements on Film in Washington DC

Sarah and Andrew were naturals in front of the camera — relaxed, present, and completely themselves. Furthermore, Ravioli was an absolute professional. Shooting this session on the Contax 645 with Kodak Portra 400 meant the warm tones of the summer gardens translated exactly the way I wanted — creamy, romantic, and full of depth. Film just handles that golden evening light in a way that nothing else does.
