This Venice Italy travel guide is one I’ve been wanting to write for a long time. Venice is an enchanting city of canals, captivating architecture, and the kind of charm that doesn’t feel real until you’re actually standing in it. We did the most romantic, touristy gondola ride — and I have zero regrets. There’s something about drifting through narrow canals next to ancient buildings while someone serenades you in Italian that just doesn’t get old. It was unforgettable, just like the movies. Just as I envisioned it in my dreams.
Every day started with pizza and gelato in the Piazza San Marco. While it’s a busy square, it makes for incredible people-watching. Birds dance to live musicians, entertainers charm children, and everyone around you is wide-eyed with wonder. You’ll pass colorful market stands stacked with fresh fruit and pasta. And if you slow down and look closely, you’ll find the most quirky, beautiful door knockers tucked into every street corner — one of my favorite little details.
During the evenings, a slow stroll with another gelato while the sun sets over the water is absolutely the move. The sounds of the nearby Opera House drift through the air, and everything glows. Additionally, I’d highly recommend catching a water taxi at golden hour — the light on the canals is something film was made for.
Venice is magical in the summer, and honestly one of those cities you simply must experience at least once in your lifetime. If Italy is on your radar for a destination wedding or portrait session, I’d love to create something beautiful there with you.
Enjoy!
