Iceland Summer Travel Guide II

Our Iceland summer travel guide is one of our favorites. Having visited a few times now, each trip gets better. We explored the country’s breathtaking natural wonders, including waterfalls, glaciers, geothermal pools, and black sand beaches. With more than twenty hours of daylight, there was ample time for hiking and extensive exploration.

Our journey began by visiting several stunning waterfalls scattered across Iceland’s picturesque landscapes. One of the highlights was the mighty Gullfoss, a massive two-tiered waterfall known for its sheer power and beauty. Another notable waterfall was Seljalandsfoss, which offered the unique opportunity to walk behind the cascading water curtain.

Next, the trip led to the mesmerizing glaciers of Iceland. Glacier hiking was an exhilarating experience. Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe, provided awe-inspiring views and a chance to witness the vast expanse of ice stretching as far as the eye could see. Drink the water — it is so refreshing!

The geothermal pools of Iceland were a perfect choice to relax and unwind. The renowned Blue Lagoon offered a luxurious and rejuvenating experience, as its warm, mineral-rich waters soothed the body and provided a serene atmosphere surrounded by stunning volcanic landscapes. Seljavallalaug was worth the hike for a true local bath experience.

Finally, you cannot skip Vik, Iceland’s black sand beach on the South Coast. Exploring the black sand beaches added a touch of dramatic beauty to the itinerary. Reynisfjara, with its striking basalt columns and powerful waves crashing against the shore and puffins posing above, presented a truly breathtaking sight. Iceland is a magical and unforgettable experience.
