Pyramids of Giza

There is something so iconic about the Pyramids of Giza. I remember flipping through books as a kid, marveling at images of these ancient wonders, never imagining that one day I’d have the opportunity to stand right there, amidst their towering presence. As a film photographer, I live for moments like these. Where history comes alive through my lens.

We started with breakfast at our resort in Cairo and then took a quick cab ride to the ancient monuments. After walking around these colossal structures, we took a camel ride through the desert to get a wide landscape view. It was hot but truly gave us a one-of-a-kind experience.

After visiting the Great Pyramids of Giza, we headed over to the Sphinx. We took the typical tourist pics kissing the main man, holding him in our palm and all the cheesy moments we’ll cherish forever. It’s one thing to see these Wonders of the World in books, but to witness them in person is an experience beyond words.

Enjoy!

Here are our favorite things we did while visiting Cairo in addition to visiting the Pyramids!

  1. Eat at Abou Tarek – We had the best Koshari here and it was such a fun family experience. Not to mention, Anthony Bourdain highly recommended this local favorite.
  2. Visit the Egyptian Museum – You’ll see hundred of thousands of real, authentic artifacts that you won’t see anywhere else in the world. The King Tut exhibit was  absolutely magical.
  3. Visit all of the bakeries! Cairo has some incredible desserts and if you love mango like I do, you’ll find plenty of mango delicacies here. If you love Baklava, you’ll like Kenufe — it is sooooo good!
