Jamaica Travel Guide: Luxury Resorts, Beaches, and Local Food

My Jamaica Travel Guide is a special one. Having visited the island hundreds of times, Jamaica has always felt like a second home. There’s nothing quite like arriving in Montego Bay and heading straight to Pork Pit as it opens. The air fills with the sweet scent of jerk seasoning and the salty sea breeze drifting in from the Caribbean Sea — a welcome sign that you’ve officially arrived on island time.

If you’re planning a trip to Jamaica, Montego Bay is often the first stop for travelers flying into the island. Beyond the airport lies a vibrant culture filled with incredible food, warm hospitality, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Whether you’re visiting for a relaxing vacation, a romantic getaway, or even planning a destination wedding, Jamaica offers an unforgettable experience.

On our recent trip, we stayed at the serene and luxurious Excellence Oyster Bay in Falmouth. This adults-only, all-inclusive resort is perfect for couples looking to unwind in a peaceful setting. Think private plunge pools, sweeping ocean views, white sand beaches, and beautifully designed suites that make it easy to settle into vacation mode. Located about 40 minutes from Montego Bay, it’s a quiet escape from the busier tourist areas while still being close enough for day trips and adventures.

Of course, no Jamaica travel guide would be complete without a visit to Negril. Known for its legendary Seven Mile Beach and iconic sunsets, Negril has a laid-back charm that captures the spirit of the island perfectly. We made the scenic drive west to spend the day exploring with Chukka Adventures. From relaxing on the beach to sipping fresh coconut water under the sun, Negril always delivers the kind of easygoing Caribbean energy that makes you want to stay just a little longer.

When we weren’t exploring the island, we spent time relaxing at the resort pool and discovering nearby local beaches. Jamaica has this incredible balance of vibrant culture and laid-back luxury that keeps visitors coming back again and again.

As a photographer, Jamaica is also one of those destinations that feels especially magical. Between the glowing sunsets, turquoise waters, and lush tropical landscapes, it’s the perfect setting for engagement sessions, elopements, and destination weddings.

If you’re dreaming about a Caribbean escape filled with amazing food, beautiful beaches, and unforgettable moments, Jamaica should absolutely be at the top of your list.

Enjoy!
