I am finally sharing our Cairo, Egypt Travel Guide on the blog today. We visited in August, during a very steamy time of year. After a long flight from Washington DC, we arrived in Cairo late in the night. We were greeted by our driver and a lot of traffic. Fast forward to the morning and we began our amazing trip along the Nile River.

  1. Stay at the Sofitel Cairo El Gezirah or Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza — we loved these hotels. The food was amazing, the ambiance was great, and the views were beautiful. We got lucky with a Nile River view from our balcony. Our favorite part was the amazing infinity pool that looked out onto the river.
  2. Take a private guided Farouk Tour along the Nile river at night. It’s beautiful to see the city come to life once the lights go down.
  3. Eat Koshary at Abou Tarek! Anthony Bourdain filmed a No Reservations episode here and it is worth the hype. The first vegetarian meal that made me so full and craving more all at the same time.
  4. Visit the Egyptian Museum. It totally blew our minds seeing so many authentic artifacts dug up right in Egypt! We saw so many King Tut artifacts that you would never be able to see elsewhere in the world. It was truly amazing .
  5. Head to Giza to see the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. Bucket list worthy and the views are amazing. We did a camel ride from one end to the other and it was a really peaceful way to see the historical sites. For the adventurous souls, be sure to enter the pyramids. There are a few sites that you can actually go inside! While we only visited during the day, I think it would be worth it to see the light show at night too!

Enjoy!
